For a child

Their voice at every age, in their own words.

A phone number a child can call whenever there’s something to tell: the first day of school, a joke they made up, what they want to be. Nobody answers. Every call is recorded and written out, and a parent decides who hears it.

Works on any phone, even a landline. No app to download.

How it works

A parent says yes, and then they call.

  1. Get the number

For your own child, or as a gift for a child you love. We mail a card with the number and their own extension.

  2. A parent agrees first

The Line takes no call until a parent or guardian has agreed. If you’re not the parent, we email them a link to agree.

  3. They call when there’s something to tell

Day or night, from any phone. Nobody answers. They talk after the beep.

  4. The calls become a book

Every call is dated and written out. Download the book of their stories whenever you like, as often as you like.

A page of things a child might talk about, to start a call when they can’t think what to say. The name on it is made up.

What comes with it

Their voice, their words, and a book.

Their own archive

Every call, dated and kept in one place: the recording, and the words written out.

Written out

Every call comes with a transcript, so the family can read it as well as hear it.

A parent decides

A parent owns the archive until the child turns 18. Every call starts private. The parent chooses which ones the family hears, and can delete any of them.

Share and download

Family you add can listen and download while the plan runs and for 90 days after. What you download is yours to keep.

The book

A book of their stories, to download as often as you like. Each story has its own code in the margin, linked to the recording of that story.

Pricing

One Line, one child.

$99 a year

  • Every call recorded and written out
  • The book, to download as often as you like

Every plan renews automatically. Cancel anytime. The year you’ve paid for keeps running to the end.

Questions

Before you give one.

Does anyone answer?

No. Nobody answers the Line. They talk after the beep, the call is recorded, and afterwards it is written out.

How does a parent agree?

If a parent buys it, they agree at signup. If someone else buys it, we email the parent a link, and the Line takes no call until they agree. A parent can withdraw their agreement later, and the Line closes.

I’m giving it to a grandchild. Can I hear the calls?

Only if the parent shares them with you. Every call starts private, and the parent decides who hears it.

What if a parent joins the call?

That’s welcome. The parent says on the recording: “I, [first and last name], am [child’s name]’s parent, and I give consent for them to be recorded.”

What happens when they turn 18?

The archive becomes theirs. We write to the parent first, and a person at Vividly makes the change.

Does it work on a landline?

Yes. It works on any phone, even a landline. There is no app to download.

What happens when the plan ends?

Family you add can listen and download while the plan runs and for 90 days after. What you download is yours to keep.
